ONLINE Scholarship Application

2024 -2025 Latchmin Jaramillo Scholarship Criteria

  • The student must be accepted into a university or technical institution
  • Two letters of recommendation- one from the principal and another staff member/teacher
  • Proof of extracurricular activity/volunteer services- letter from an individual in charge of extracurricular/volunteer program. Items to be addressed in the letter:
  • How did participating in the extracurricular activity or volunteer service better the school and/or community?
  • What is your experience with the applicant?
  • Student’s potential to succeed at their next learning institution
  • Is there anything else you would like to add?
  • 1-2page essay, answering these questions:
  • Tell us about
  • How will receiving the scholarship impact your life?
  • How will receiving the scholarship impact the community at large?
  • What are your career goals and aspirations?
  • Who has been a role model for you?
  • Is there anything else you would like to add?
  • Proof of financial need- parent’s income below the poverty level (tax return, not sure if Jamaica has that)
  • First-generation college student (neither parent went to college)
  • The student must maintain a 3.5 GPA to continue receiving the scholarship. (I’m not sure if Jamaica uses GPA)
