The Jaramillo Scholarship Application

2027 -2028 Jaramillo Scholarship Criteria

• The student must be accepted into a university or technical institution.
• Academic achievement, with a minimum standing equivalent to a 3.5 GPA or the institution’s applicable grading standard.
• First-generation college status, meaning neither parent has attended college/university.
• Financial need, supported by appropriate documentation of household/parental income.
• Two letters of recommendation- one from the principal and another staff member/teacher
• A letter from an extracurricular/volunteer supervisor addressing the applicant’s involvement, contribution, character, and potential for success. Items to be addressed in the letter:
  • How did participating in the extracurricular activity or volunteer service better the school and/or community?
  • What is your experience with the applicant?
  • Student’s potential to succeed at their next learning institution
  • Is there anything else you would like to add?
• A 1–2 page personal essay addressing the scholarship’s impact on the applicant and community, career goals and aspirations, a role model, and any additional information the applicant wishes to share. Answer the following questions:
  • Tell us about
  • How will receiving the scholarship impact your life?
  • How will receiving the scholarship impact the community at large?
  • What are your career goals and aspirations?
  • Who has been a role model for you?
  • Is there anything else you would like to add?

Continuing Scholarship Requirement
Recipients must maintain the required academic standing throughout their studies to remain eligible for continued scholarship support. Investing in one student can help transform a family, strengthen a community, and inspire generations to come.
